General Information
B.G. Transit is Bowling Green ’s public transportation system. Its funding is provided, in part, through the City of Bowling Green and an operating grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
Many people think B.G. Transit is a “taxi.” It is not. It operates more like a bus service whose route is determined by scheduled rides. B.G. Transit is one of only a few public transportation systems in the State of Ohio, funded through grant money, which does not require 24-hour advanced reservations.
Because we are considered “demand response” we will do the best that we can to accommodate “last minute” reservations. If, however, you don’t schedule your trip at least one hour in advance, you will be able to ride on a space-available basis only.
All B.G. Transit vehicles are accessible to persons with disabilities.

How To Schedule A Ride
To schedule a ride, call 1-800-579-4299 or call the Ohio Relay Network at 1-800-750-0750 at least one hour in advance of the time you want to be picked up. When you call the 800 number you may hear a recording. Stay on the line until your call is answered. Calls for rides are answered in the order that they are received. If you hang up before the order-taker answers, you lose your place in the lineup (Calls from payphones are free!).
| Please be aware...drivers may arrive 15 minutes before or after a scheduled pick-up time. Please be ready and watching 15 minutes in advance of your scheduled pick-up time. When the vehicle arrives, you will have 5 minutes to board. |
Please allow at least 25 minutes from your scheduled pickup time till the time you arrive at your destination.
The transit system's busiest times are between 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. If you want to travel during these periods, you should call the day before to reserve your ride. Otherwise, you will only be able to ride during those times if there is space available.
A rider may place advanced orders for recurring trips, such as for work or medical appointments, up to one month in advance. There are several responsibilities attached to these rides:
- The rider will be required to notify B.G. Transit 24 hours in advance if there is any change in their schedule that would cause them to not need the trip.
- If a rider misses the initial trip (no-show) the rider must contact B.G. Transit and let them know if they will still need the return trip.
- Consecutive no-shows or late cancellations may be grounds for suspension of the advance order privilege.
If the passenger wants to change their destination after making a reservation, they should cancel the original order and make a new one. Destinations cannot be changed upon entering the vehicle.
The transit system operates between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. , Monday through Friday and between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Rides must be completed during those periods. There is no service on New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.
